Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Your Business collects through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

Your Business Ltd. Registered in England and Wales, company number 00000000. 1 Sample Street, Sampletown, ZZ1 1ZZ.

For any question about this policy or your information, email hello@example.com, call 01632 960123 or write to us at the address above.

What we collect

When you use our contact or quote form: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and what you tell us about your enquiry.

When you email or call us: the details you choose to share.

When you visit the site: our hosting provider records technical details such as your IP address, browser and the pages you view, to keep the site secure and to count visits. The site’s fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser also sends your IP address to Google.

Your cookie choices, which are stored on your device. Our cookie policy explains this.

How we use it, and why

To reply to your enquiry or give you a quote, because you have asked us to.

To carry out work you agree to and keep records of it, because we need to for our contract with you and the law requires us to keep accounts.

To keep the website working and secure, and to know how many people visit it, because it is in our legitimate interests to run a safe and useful website.

We don’t use your information for marketing unless you have agreed to it, and we never sell it.

Who we share it with

Our website hosting provider, our email provider and other IT suppliers, who process it for us under contract and only on our instructions. Google receives visitors’ IP addresses when it provides the site’s fonts.

Professional advisers such as our accountant, and public authorities when the law requires it.

Some of these suppliers may handle information outside the UK. When they do, it is protected by safeguards UK law recognises, such as an adequacy decision or approved contract terms.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to 12 months.

Records of work we carry out: 6 years, as tax and accounting rules require.

Technical records of visits are kept by our hosting provider only as long as it needs them for security and visit statistics.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it or pass it to another organisation. You can also object to how we use it.

To make a request, email hello@example.com. We will reply within one month, and there is normally no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
